Few years ago I traveled to Finland looking for Alvar Aalto´s projects , Finnish architect and designer of the modern movement (d. 1976). His works are universal and inspiration for any design project. I leave a sample of the pictures I took during the trip.

Villa Mairea, located in a forest of Noormarkku (west of Finland), is a house considered one of his best projects. The original idea was to design a holiday home to act as an art gallery. Noteworthy is the eclectic use of materials, which can be seen in the colors, shapes and textures that make up the facades and interiors.
The building is L-shaped to protect the northern winds, with the sauna on one side. The courtyard is open to the woods and in the center is the pool to create a pleasant environment.
The wood is treated in different ways to achieve different effects.

The building disintegrates in the landscape defining five blocks of different uses. The orientation of the pieces is cared for the highest utilization of the sun, wind protection and views, especially in the block of rooms, in which the patient is the center of the design. Everything is designed to "humanize architecture" and that the user has adequate comfort. The natural ventilation system is through a double window "shifted" so that the cold air does not flow directly to the rooms.
The homes of doctors are located in separate blocks built in the forest.
